lab testing

Chaney Integrative Family Medicine provides many options for wellness testing that address multiple health concerns; from nutrition and digestion function, to bone density screening, heavy metal analysis, neurotransmitter profiles and hormone testing. Our lab testing options can help to identify a problem so you can begin a proper course of treatment.

ALCAT TESTING

The ALCAT test measures harmful immune reactions induced by commonly encountered foods, additives and environmental chemicals. The ALCAT test may help you: identify harmful foods, even normally ‘healthy’ foods that are not good for you, improve metabolic function, decrease chronic inflammation, a major cause of premature aging, reach your goal weight and achieve wellness through customized nutrition.

CARDIOVASCULAR PROFILE – LIPOPROTEIN PARTICLE PROFILE TEST

Cholesterol testing has historically been used as the standard indicator for cardiovascular disease. However, it is actually the lipoprotein particles that carry the cholesterol throughout the body, not necessarily the cholesterol within them, that are responsible for the development of cardiovascular disease. This advanced cholesterol testing technology accurately measures lipoprotein particles.

MICRONUTRIENT TEST

The Micronutrient Test assesses our vitamin, mineral and antioxidant deficiencies on the cellular level. This unique testing provides you with individualized results to determine what nutrients your body needs to reduce your risk of chronic disease and live a healthier life.

HORMONE LEVELS TEST

Adequate levels and an appropriate balance of hormones are necessary for maintaining optimum health and well-being in both females and males. The hormones analyzed in this test support a wide range of essential physiological functions. Variations in these hormones play a large role in the changes seen in life cycle events.

NEUROTRANSMITTER PROFILES

Neurotransmitters are necessary for thought processes, emotions and other essential body functions including sleep, energy and fear. Imbalances in neurotransmitter levels can lead to: feelings of sadness & anxiousness, disrupted sleep, fatigue, behavioral problems & foggy thinking & headaches.

GENETIC TESTING - TELOMERE & MTHFR

Telomeres are sections of genetic material at the end of each chromosome whose primary function is to prevent chromosomal “fraying” when a cell replicates. As a cell ages, its telomeres become shorter. Eventually, the telomeres become too short to allow cell replication, the cell stops dividing and will ultimately die - a normal biological process. A Telomere Test can determine the length of a patient’s telomeres in relation to the patient’s age.

MTHFR is an abbreviation for a gene that codes for an enzyme called methylenetetrahydrofolate reductase. It is involved in the metabolism of folate and homocysteine. Mutations in the MTHFR gene are associated with thromboembolic and cardiovascular disease, which can lead to blood clots, stroke, embolism, and/or heart attacks. Individuals with mutations in the MTHFR gene often have elevated levels of homocysteine in their blood. This is related to a deficiency of folic acid and is connected to increased risk of cardiac events (stroke, embolism, blood clots and/or heart attacks) and infertility.
